Seriously, the most heartwarming thing I've seen in a long time.

Apparently there have been some big bush fires in Australia recently, and Preppy, Straight Up posted the first picture to pique my interest. Check this out...

Sam the koala had suffered burns on her paws and face, and she was rescued by this firefighter, who gave the poor thing three bottles of water. I can't believe how the koala wasn't afraid, and stayed right there with the firefighter. I am also completely misty-eyed at that picture. Not only the compassion and caring exhibited by the firefighter, but the soft, hopeful, face of the koala. Do I see a hint of a smile on her face?

Doesn't your heart just burst when you see the cuteness? Apparently the little thing was a girl and the rescue group named her Sam. Here's the best part - she now has a boyfriend! He's also a burnt koala and they can't stop hugging. I wonder if koalas can get post-traumatic stress?

My mom sent me an e-mail with a picture of that today...it is just so dang cute. And the fact that koalas normally don't go near humans...it's fantastic!
